Competition – winners

https://www.concorsomusicasacra.com/la-giuria–1.phpAfter completing the preliminary and semi final rounds of the International Sacred Music Competition 2020, the Final Round was held in the form of a Gala Concert, taking place in the gorgeous baroque Basilica of SS. Apostoli of Rome.

The Final included 15 singers from all over the world. Between them 6 soloists was awarded by the Jury to take part in a European project co-financed by the “Creative Europe” program of the European Union, entitled “Let’s Sing Oratorio Music!” for the principal 3 roles in Haydn’s “The Creation”.

Winners were the English soprano Sophie Gallagher, Leigh Michelow born in USA but now living between Germany and Austria, the Polish tenor Tomasz Tracz, the Lebanese tenor Joseph Dahdah and the German bass-baritones Leonard Geiger and Johannes Schwarz.

The Competition Jury was made up of Soprano Chiara Taigi, conductors Fabrizio Da Ros, Leonardo Quadrini, and Nikos Efthimiadis and Daniela de Marco, Founder and Artistic Director of the Competition.

Virtually/remotely joining us due to the difficulties of international travel to Rome were the Superintendent of the Opava Theater Ilja Racek, the director Luděk Golat and the Director of the Bacau Philharmonic Pavel Ionescu Ambrosie.

The final, held in accordance with the regulations on social distancing, hosted some distinguished institutional representatives, who wanted to support the international significance of the event by their presence; The Councilor for Culture of the Moravian Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Karin Vesela, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Holy See Václav Kolaja, the Ambassador of Latvia to the Quirinale, Mrs. Solvita Aboltina, the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Slovenia Holy See Mrs. Elizabeta Kirn Kavčič, the First Secretary of the Croatian Embassy to the Holy See Igor Surdich, the Third Secretary of Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Germany in Italy Petra Hergl and Mihaila Raluca, of the Cultural Office of the ‘Romanian Embassy. Among the Italian guests, the European president of the European Tourism and Entertainment Center Giuseppe Lepore, the actress Anna Marcello, the entrepreneur Giuseppe Russo, Carlotta Duma, stylist of the American stars in Hollywood, Claudio Lavanga, correspondent of NBC NEWS and EURONEWS, the tenor Fabio Andreotti and the soprano Diana Trivellato.

The evening was artfully presented by Vincenzo Bocciarelli, new star of the event who entertained the public with his readings by Dante, Guido Cavalcanti and Giacomo Leopardi taken from his recent experience of the “Bocciarelli Home Theater”, a sociological cultural experiment from which he cites his book “Sulle ali dell’arte”.

When can I enter the competition?

Registration for the Qualifying Round: within July 15, 2021 only by sending a video for who enrol from Eliminatory Round

Within August 20, 2021 for winners of Main Prize in a Lyric International Competition in any Country   directly admitted to the Semi-final (as written in our Contest rules).

Who can enter the competition?

Opera singers under 37 years old.

What do the winners get?

Scholarship for a total of €10.000,00, workshops, cup, travel expenses and accommodation
